Winter 2009
The first day of the new year has come and gone and with it comes the holiday season and the last remaining months of 2008. Before we know it, 2010 will be here and … Well, let’s not get into that.
NEWS
October saw the release of SOUTHERN LEGACIES #4: REDEMPTION IN BLOOD from Whiskey Creek Press Torrid. While this sounds like it should have a Halloween type plot, sorry – that will be coming up in My Lord Baltimore. (More on this later.)
The latest book in the series deals with another one of Jefferson Davis’ secret operatives-- Colonel Russell Steele. He and his group work for the Confederacy in the southwest corner of
I am also happy to learn that the cover of the book is one of the monthly nominees for the Covey Award. Go to: http://thenewcoveycoverawards.blogspot.com then click on the 9th entry to vote. There are only a few days left so if you get a chance to vote, it’s appreciated.
In the later part of 2008, I had the pleasure of doing two interviews. One at Fallen Angel Reviews and the other at The Historical Romance Club. Check them out.

REVIEWS
Reviews have been very good for THE HALLS OF BUCHANNAN though, unfortunately it didn’t win in the cover art contest announced in the last issue of the Scouting Report.

M.C. Scout successfully pulls the reader into this storyline from the very beginning and holds you captivated throughout the entire book. THE HALLS OF BUCHANNAN is full of memorable characters, jawdropping scenes and villains you’ll love to hate. I loved all the insight into Nick and Laney’s relationship and especially enjoyed how the historical significance of Buchannan Hall in

THE HALLS OF BUCHANAN is the literary equivalent of following a twisting maze. One never knows what to expect next but intrigue and suspense are assured. Some scenes may perturb more sensitive readers, however, as the story includes several instances of bondage and non-consensual sex. The publisher rates it as "erotic-controversial". The villain's goals are set in stone and he will stop at nothing to achieve revenge, including rape, bondage-domination, and the murder of several principal and secondary characters. The saving grace is the incredible mental and emotional strength of the protagonists. Both hero and heroine as well as their friends and some of the enemy's contingent prove to be strong-willed and determined, requirements if they are to surpass the villain's overwhelming need for vengeance and his paranoid planning
And for Southern Legacies #4: Redemption in Blood:

REDEMPTION IN BLOOD is the fourth book in M.C. Scout’s SOUTHERN LEGACIES series. With all the history on the Civil War rarely do we hear about the heroes who fought for the Confederacy. Ms. Scout delves into their bravery and devotion to the cause while intermingling an unforgettable romance throughout the storyline. I loved how quickly Russ and Jordan knew they belonged together and the passion they share despite all the troubles that could effectively tear them apart forever. There are many fascinating characters brought to life during this story and I’ve got several favorites that I hope to read more about in the future. Of course you’re also treated to a villain that you’ll love to hate! Peter is simply evil and I couldn’t wait for him to get what was coming to him. Characters we met in the earlier books in this series are mentioned - which of course I enjoyed since it makes the men and women who served the Confederacy feel like a close-knit group.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the reviewers who read my work over this past year. Reviews mean a lot—good and bad.

FIRE SAFETY
I realize that the following information is about the 2008 fire prevention week theme but as I have said before and will say again—fire safety takes no time off.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) named the theme of 2008’s Fire Prevention Week as PREVENT HOME FIRES. Take care in what you do around the home or at work or even when on vacation. Don’t overload sockets or place carpets, etc over extension cords. Take care when burning candles. These are just a few tips you can remember to Prevent Home Fires. Fire safety doesn’t happen one week or month a year, it’s a 24/7/365 concept that could save your life or that of a loved one, friend or even a stranger.

My best always,
MC Scout
